Becoming an Au Pair in Italy means immersing yourself in a unique lifestyle of hospitality, good food, art, history, and authentic daily life. With Celtic ChildCare, you get professional and attentive support at every stage, following European Au Pair program standards.
Italy is one of the most popular countries for Au Pairs from all over Europe: it offers a perfect balance between culture, lifestyle, and language learning opportunities.
Here’s why it’s an ideal destination:
accustomed to hosting international students.
and enjoyable to learn, very useful for studies and work.
museums, events, and unique landscapes.
perfect for those seeking a balanced experience between responsibility and discovery.
You'll become part of an Italian family, sharing daily life with them and offering support in childcare and light household tasks.
free board and lodging
weekly pocket money (minimum payment of €80 per week)
free time to explore the city or study
opportunity to attend a language course
a safe and welcoming family environment
The goal is a cultural exchange: you help the family, and the family allows you to experience authentic Italian life.
The Au Pair program follows clear European guidelines. Generally, you need to:
be between 17 and 30 years old
be unmarried and without children
have a basic knowledge of Italian (or willingness to learn it)
be open and responsible with children
have good health and reliable behavior
minimum availability: 3–12 months
If you're an EU citizen, you can move freely; if you're non-EU, you may need a visa depending on the length of stay.
Your role as an Au Pair in Italy will include:
Entertaining children with games and educational activities
Preparing them for school and bedtime
Taking them to school and appointments
Supervising them during illnesses or school holidays
Keeping their room and clothes tidy
Helping at the table (setting, clearing, dishwasher)
Speaking your native language or Italian during daily activities
Every family is different, but working hours are regulated and always leave room for your personal life.
It’s the first impression the family will have: fill it out carefully and accurately.
Tell them who you are, about your family, your interests, your studies, and especially your experience with children.
Write it in Italian or English.
At least one must confirm your experience with children.
They must be written by different people, verifiable, and in English (or translated into Italian).
Provide color scans, clear and legible.
Once we receive all your materials, we’ll find the most suitable family.
After the introduction and video interview, you’ll sign the contract and can book your flight.
Fill out the form and find out if Italy is the right destination for you.
We’re here to help you every step of the way.
