Here are the answers to the most common questions about how the Au Pair program works.
An Au Pair is a young person who lives abroad with a host family and takes care of the children in exchange for room, board, and a weekly allowance. It is a cultural experience that allows you to improve your language skills and immerse yourself in the daily life of the host country.
To become an Au Pair, you need to fill out the application form, send the required documentation, and meet the minimum requirements of the destination country. Celtic ChildCare verifies your profile, supports you in your preparation, and helps you find an ideal host family.
Requirements vary by country, but generally you need: experience with children, good health, no criminal record, the ability to communicate in the local language (even at a basic level), and a willingness to live with a host family while respecting their rules and habits.
An Au Pair takes care of the children: daily routines, games, educational activities, help with homework, transportation, and managing small household tasks related to the children. They should not perform heavy work or duties that do not involve the minors.
The Au Pair's salary varies based on the host country and the weekly hours specified by the program. In addition to the pay, room, board, and other benefits are included, which significantly reduce personal expenses.
The duration is usually 6 to 12 months, but in many countries, it is possible to extend the stay or choose shorter periods. Our agency will guide you toward the solution that best fits your project.
